Transfer students who are not transferring in with an AA degree from a Florida public institution or coming from a private or out-of-state institution will be held to the general University transfer credit policy and may need to work with an advisor to have a course-by-course evaluation of their transfer credits, both for the University Core Curriculum (UCC) and/or for their Major.
Your Critical Reminders:
Attend mandatory Transfer Orientation! As an attendee you will receive an updated academic audit showing how your transfer courses have been evaluated for the UCC.
We recommend that you begin the admissions process at least 6 months prior to your desired start date. If you haven’t done so already, please visit the Undergraduate Admissions office website for more information.
Students applying to limited access programs should pay special attention to application deadlines and GPA requirements, which differ from the general admission parameters. In addition, many programs require that a separate application and/or a complete set of transcripts be submitted to the specific college/school. The following FIU programs are designated as competitive admissions
All transfer students are required to attend a New Student orientation. It is a one day session where you will receive valuable information regarding university policies, financial aid, transfer equivalencies, student life and resources, and academic programs. Most importantly, it is your first opportunity to meet with your academic advisor and register for classes. For information and reservations, please visit the Website Orientation and/or contact: The Office of Orientation & Parent Programs
Modesto Maidique Campus
New Transfer students should also consider participating in the annual Transfer Panther Camp. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with other incoming transfer students, learn about FIU culture, develop leadership skills and more! For more information, go to PantherCamp
If possible, we recommend that you attend Transfer Orientation prior to requesting your course evaluations. Also, check your Panther Degree Audit (PDA) before you begin the evaluation process because most or if not all of your courses may have already been applied to your degree requirements.
