What is it all about?
- In a nutshell: The scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) is about applying the same standards used in academic research in the investigation of issues (problems) related to teaching and learning. From a perspective of SoTL, teaching is an activity undertaken over time, and teachers can investigate this activity in the same manner that they, as scholars, conduct research in their own disciplines.

Research on Diversity in Higher Education
"This year, the AAHE Research Forum took up difficult dialogues to create a research agenda that will bring insight to issues of diversity and learning.
- How does diversity in learning affect the definition and certification of competence?
- How can educational institutions foster deep and durable learning by diverse learners in light of new technologies?
These questions lead to new tasks when diversity within and across world cultures are potential barriers to membership in a global learning community. The AAHE Research Forum is convened annually to involve individuals committed to research and scholarship in higher education. What questions should shape our scholarship?
Participants worked in small groups to create a research agenda-given their own issues and settings-via the conference themes."
